Breaking News: Georgia Bulldogs Running Back Roderick Robinson Transfers to UAB!
It's a tough blow for the Georgia Bulldogs as running back Roderick Robinson has officially announced his transfer plans and is heading to the UAB Blazers. This move, confirmed on January 16, 2026, marks a new chapter for the young athlete.
Robinson, a sophomore, will have two years of eligibility remaining at UAB. This presents a fresh opportunity for him to showcase his talents and make a significant impact on the field. During his time at Georgia, he battled through a series of injuries, but he finished his UGA career on a high note, scoring a receiving touchdown in Georgia's SEC championship win over Alabama.
Standing at 6-foot-1 and weighing 235 pounds, Robinson brings impressive size and strength to the game. In the 2025 season, he recorded six carries for 22 yards and two receptions for 13 yards, including a receiving touchdown.
He was a highly touted four-star recruit out of San Diego, California. According to 247Sports, he is currently unranked as a transfer. He'll be looking for more playing time at UAB and hopefully stay healthy for the 2026 college football season.
Injuries played a significant role in his career at Georgia. He missed nearly the entire 2024 season due to turf toe (missing the first 11 games) and a broken ankle. He appeared in only two games in 2024, with six touches for 37 yards. It's a shame, as he showed a lot of promise as a freshman.
Looking back at his 2023 season, Robinson posted his career-best numbers. He recorded 24 carries for 196 yards and two touchdowns, showing great potential as a future running back for Georgia. Despite the setbacks, he kept fighting and found a way back onto the field.
But here's where it gets controversial... Robinson's departure means Georgia's 2026 running back group will likely include Nate Frazier, Chauncey Bowens, Kentucky transfer Dante Dowdell, Dwight Philips, Bo Walker, and four-star signee Jae Lamar. Georgia also lost Josh McCray and Cash Jones to the 2026 NFL draft.
