Lunar New Year 2026: Meet Panda Mei, Horace Horsecollar, and More at Disney California Adventure (2026)

Get ready for an unforgettable Lunar New Year celebration at Disney California Adventure Park! 🥳🎊

Meet the Adorable Panda Mei and Her Friends

Lunar New Year 2026 is set to be a magical event, and we're here to reveal some of the exciting character meet-and-greets you can expect. Prepare to be charmed by the beloved Panda Mei, who will be appearing in her full red panda form for the very first time! But here's where it gets intriguing... Mei has a unique backstory, as she's based on Meilin Lee from the movie 'Turning Red,' who transforms into a giant red panda when her emotions run high. 🥰

A Disney Classic Returns

Joining Panda Mei is the classic character Horace Horsecollar, one of Disney's earliest creations from 1929. Horace, often Mickey's sidekick, will be dressed to impress in a Chinese-style red tunic with elegant gold trim and cloud designs. But that's not all – he'll also be adorned with a jade necklace, symbolizing luck, protection, and prosperity. A true fashion icon!

Cultural Fashion Showcase

Mickey and Minnie will be donning Korean-inspired attire, with Mickey in a stylish blue baeja and baji, and Minnie in a charming striped jeogori and pink chima. They'll be the epitome of traditional Korean fashion! Meanwhile, Donald and Daisy will be dressed in Chinese-inspired hanfu styles, featuring gold embroidery and unique pankou knot closures. And let's not forget Goofy and Clarabelle, who will be greeting guests in Vietnamese-inspired áo dài outfits, complete with ancient coin motifs.

A Festive Schedule

The meet-and-greets are scheduled throughout the festival, with Donald and Daisy appearing on Tuesdays, Thursdays, and Saturdays, and Goofy and Clarabelle on Sundays, Mondays, Wednesdays, and Fridays. Each character brings their own unique charm to the celebration, making it a truly diverse and captivating experience.

Lunar New Year 2026, held from January 23 to February 22, 2026, will honor the Year of the Horse by showcasing the rich cultures of China, Korea, and Vietnam. 🎆 This event is included with park admission, but some activities may require an additional fee.

Stay tuned for more updates, and don't forget to share your character encounters on social media! And here's a thought-provoking question: Which character's outfit do you think best represents their culture, and why? Share your opinions below!
