Get ready for a Pokémon-filled adventure on your Nintendo Switch! But here's the catch: you'll need to purchase the games, as they won't be included in the Nintendo Switch Online subscription.
Nintendo is celebrating the anniversary of the iconic Pokémon Red and Green games, which first captivated players in Japan three decades ago. This year's Pokémon Presents event, airing on February 27th, will be a special one, marking 30 years since the series' inception.
During the broadcast, fans can expect to see the highly anticipated remakes of the 1996 Game Boy classics, Pokémon FireRed and LeafGreen, coming to the Switch and its successor, the Switch 2. These remakes, originally released for the Game Boy Advance, will be available for purchase and download on Pokémon Day, right after the presentation.
A teaser trailer for the Switch versions has already been released, and eager fans can pre-order the games on the Nintendo eShop for £16.99 each. But that's not all! The presentation might also reveal more about Pokémon Pokopia, a charming Animal Crossing-style game set in the Pokémon universe, scheduled for release on March 5th.
Our very own Alex from Eurogamer is smitten with Pokopia, saying it combines beloved mechanics with the beloved Pokémon world. He even draws comparisons to the 2012 strategy crossover, Pokémon Conquest, which blended the Pokémon series with Nobunaga's Ambition.
Additionally, we might receive updates on popular Pokémon titles like Pokémon Go, Pokémon Sleep, Pokémon Unite, and Pokémon EX Masters. There's also a chance for news about the Pokémon park in Japan or, as our Lottie hopes, some hints about Generation 10.
And this is the part most fans are eagerly anticipating: what secrets and surprises will be unveiled during the Pokémon Presents broadcast? Will it live up to the hype, or will it leave fans divided? You'll have to tune in to find out!
